We’re coming up on the five-year anniversary of The Bizarchives issue #1.
Unfortunately, BZA1 is no longer in print. It was the book that started it all, and we’re very proud of it. But we’ve come a long way since then, and the stories in the first collection don’t represent where we are now as publishers and writers.
The same goes for all of the first three issues. This year, we’re going to release “The Bizarchives Omnibus: Origins,” which will contain the strongest submissions from these titles as well as some new ones.
As BZA has grown, so have I as a writer. The stories that I put in BZA 1 were yarns I had penned to knock the rust off after many years of not writing. Despite how sloppy and amateurish some of my early stories were, our readers still ask for more from the settings and characters featured in them.
The one that gets requested the most is my grimdark fantasy hero, Lucius Lex. He hasn’t appeared in print since BZA3, yet the Bizarkings haven’t stopped asking for his return. And next to Count Choralure, he is the character that our readers have wanted to see in a standalone novel for years now.
So, I have done just that. I have finished the manuscript for a full 300 page novel called “Grimurth Shall Burn: A Lucius Lex Saga”, which will be available for print this summer.
To celebrate Lex’s return, I am going back and revising my original Lex yarns for those of you who may have missed out on his early adventures across the grim and haunted lands of Grimurth.
I had a folder of Lex fan art that has since been lost. If you have ever submitted Lex fan art or would like to submit some, please send it to our DMs here on substack or to TheBizarchives@gmail.com.
Here is the first ever appearance of Ser Lucius Lex from BZA1 in a really short tale called Lex and The Lost Girl. It’s not my best tale. But you can see where it was headed.
I hope you enjoy.
